In the last few months, I have realized that there are many times I take my family for granted. I picture in my mind that they will always be there, however when my father was diagnosed with cancer in June, all of a sudden things shifted for me. I have talked to my family more in the last 5 months. I have made it a priority to visit them more often, even putting special plans aside to be there. I have spent more time in prayer for them.
My dad is an amazing man. He loves God with all his heart and he wants to see all of his children and grandchildren to also love God. My dad is not afraid of hard work and in fact is still working even with chemo looming in the horizon (against medical and family advice). I remember when I was a little girl and he would come home early (before bed) from work and he would give us piggy back rides to bed. He made breakfast on Sunday mornings, I love his pancakes! A few times when he took the time off work we had vacations, mostly to visit family, but I remember this one trip. We went to Kelowna, we went to the waterslides and Flintstone's Park, and on our way home we went to the Enchanted Forest near Revelstoke. That trip was great not only because we went to so many amazing places, but because we spent a lot of quality time together on that trip and I will always cherish it. As an adult I have had the privilege of becoming even closer with my dad and it is an honor to be his daughter. My dad inspires me! When he was given this diagnosis, he handled it with such grace and he has had such a peace and trust in God through it all. It inspires me to grow in my faith and trust in God and to walk in peace especially when the circumstances are not favorable. Thank you dad for being my inspiration!
