When Life Gets Tough

3/15/2021

It is Monday and the last couple of weeks have been a tough time for us. I have been so overwhelmed with things that I didn't make time to write. I am sure many of you have faced tough times and when we become overwhelmed, some things need to give. Unfortunately, sometimes the things that give are the things that we love, or the things that bring us life. This is at least true for me.

Writing brings me life, it brings me joy! For all of you out there who are going through a tough time, know that you do not need to face it alone. God is always there for you, even if you have never spoken to him before, he is there just waiting for us to let him help us. If you need others to walk with you, you can always contact me. Do not face your tough times alone. I lean on my sister in these times and she is great! She helps me see things from a different perspective and she gives me hope for an end to the trial.

My point is this, when life gets tough, try to make time for the things you love and the things that bring you life. These things could actually be the tools that will help you get through the tough times you are facing.

The Unexpected

Life is filled with unexpected moments. No matter who we are, our plans falter, our dreams change and some goals seem unachievable. It is in these unexpected moments that we can discover grace and compassion. Can you imagine what would happen if we were to face every time we got off track due to the unexpected with grace and compassion for ourselves; recognizing that we are actually in the exact timing and exact placement God wants us in.

God is the one who orchestrates our lives, He is the one who placed us on the path, and what is unexpected for me is no surprise to Him. That is right God planned for every moment that seems unexpected to us. This takes the pressure off us! We are exactly where God planned for us to be. Hard to wrap your head around, but freeing if we embrace it!

God has planned for our unexpected. When we feel like we have failed cling to the fact that this is part of the path you are following, the journey you are on. God knew this would happen and has meticulously planned for it. We need to have compassion towards ourselves and not get discouraged, but pick ourselves up and continue on.

This brings a new perspective to James 1:2 Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. Great joy because God has already accounted for it and you are exactly where you need to be. Great joy because it gives us the opportunity to demonstrate God's grace for ourselves. Great joy because God will give us everything we need to endure through it and come out the other side.

Do not let go of your goals, your plans, your dreams. Instead be open to the fact that they may not happen in your time table, or in the way that you had planned; rest in the knowledge that it is all happening in God's time table and in the way that he has planned. It is so reassuring knowing that the living God of the universe and beyond has everything under control, even my unexpected moments!

Perseverance

Today I did my first Let's Play video, and it has been an endeavor in perseverance. I tried to do it on Saturday. The first time through there was no video, the second time there was no audio, the third time the audio was completely garbled, the fourth time the video was not recording again, it froze my computer and had to hard reset it. This was just to get a usable video. The trials continued as I tried to find software to put the beginning and end on the actual video, and had it fail twice. Then once I got that done my first upload to YouTube failed. Some of you are probably wondered why I bothered to keep going. This took two day to actually go from recording to posted on YouTube. I kept going because I really wanted to complete this project. It is also because, I wanted to continue living out my theme for this year. NO EXCUSES!

I could have given up and made excuses for why it was too hard to complete, but I really want to complete the projects I start this year. Even if it seems difficult, even if there are obstacles, I want to see things through to the end. If you want to check out what all my hard work accomplished, feel  free to check it out at the following link. https://youtu.be/uXM03lKMucg

What are some projects you are doing? Have there been obstacles? Have there been difficulties? Have there been trials? This may be your opportunity to persevere, to push past the obstacles, to work through the difficulties, to endure the trials. James has something to say about this, "Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing." James 1:2-4

This principle is true in our lives, our character grows if we overcome the hardships and bring things to completion. The same is true in our walk with God. If we give up when things get hard, then we will have stunted growth, but if we push through the hard times and continue forward, we will find deeper character and as a result a deeper relationship with God as well.

I am determined to live this year with NO EXCUSES, not only in my day-to-day life but in my faith as well.
