Some of you may have been wondering what happened to me this last week that I did not write my article. To be completely honest, I have been struggling with how to wrap up this series. This week I had the amazing priviledge to watch a mother and son together. They don't get to spend much time together, but they try to make the most out of each second they have. I realize what my last two topics will be in this series. This week we will be talking about quality time. If you want to know then next one you will just have to read next weeks article too.
I know there have been time when I have taken the quality time with my family for granted. In the last few years I have realized just how important time is. When I moved away from my family in Calgary back in June, I thought it was going to be easy. I went away for 3 years of college, yet moving away this time was much harder than I had even allowed myself to believe. My family mean so much to me, whether it be skyping once a week or singing my mom a crazy birthday song long distance I cherish every moment. I miss them so much!
The great thing about knowing when I was moving was the fact that I knew I had to spend quality time with them before I left. Bible Studies with my parents and brother became a weekly event. Going to Women's Bible studies and book clubs with my sister became the norm. I tried to be at every family gathering we had. I will always cherish those times we had together and I look forward to every time I am able to go to Calgary or they are able to visit me here.
My encouragement for you is this, don't miss out on quality time with your family. You have today and no one knows what tomorrow will bring. Don't wait, make every moment a moment to be cherished. Make every moment count. The thing I hear most from people when attending funerals is family members wishing they would have spent more time with the loved one who passed away. Don't let that be you. Spend some quality time with your family today and build the memories that will last a lifetime.
