Some people thrive on being alone, however there are others who have been alone for so long that they long to be loved and cherished and no longer want to be alone as they go through life.
I have experienced that kind of loneliness and it is very difficult to get through. When I faced my worst time of loneliness was when I felt distant from God. I had planned my life out and when things did not go according to my plan, I became angry with God, as a result I distanced myself from Him. It took me quite some time to realize that my new path was much better than the one I had planned out and it took me even longer to realize I was still angry and still distancing myself. God was always there waiting for me to invite Him back in. God is a gentleman and will never force His way in, He waits patiently for our invitation. Once I realized, I asked God for forgiveness and invited Him back. I do not feel that loneliness anymore.
Deuteronomy 31:8 "The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged." Even when I felt all alone, I know God was there just waiting for me to let him back in.
Romans 8:38-39 "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Even when we feel alone we are not alone. God's love surrounds us completely day in and day out. Nothing can separate us from His love! No matter how bleak it feels, try letting Jesus be your companion and invite Him in and let Him fill that loneliness with Himself and His love.
My prayer for you all as we go through 2012 is that you will all experience a renewal in your walk with Jesus and that you will all find the rest and peace that can only be found in Him.
