No Excuses

Starting the year off on the right foot is what most people are focused on in the first few weeks of January, however it is around this time that excuses start creeping in and we find ourselves starting to waver on our "resolutions". What if this was the year of NO EXCUSES! What if we all did the good that we wanted to do, without allowing our selfish desires to control our actions. I am sure some of you reading this have just been offended, but I want you to hear me out. If we make an excuse not to do something, let us be honest here, it is because we do not want to. We come up with reasons, but the bottom line is if we wanted to do it, we would find a way. This is a harsh truth, but a TRUTH none the same.
What if we took this a step further than just "resolutions"? What if we applied this to what God asked us to do? God asks us to do things that will bring about good in our lives and our world, what greater things could we do? Yet how many if us make excuses? Excuses like: "I am too old", "I am too young", "I am not capable", "I am not educated", "I am not good enough", or the most popular in our current culture "I am too busy". The list of excuses are endless, what if we made the list of, "Yes!" just as long? It is time to examine the real reason we do not want to do what God asks. Many of them are selfish.
I think about the Bible and there are so many examples of people making excuses, Sarah said she was to old to have a baby, yet she had Isaac. Moses said he did not speak well enough, God provided Aaron, yet when he spoke to Pharaoh he did it on His own. David said he was to young to be king, God showed him that he was a leader even in the wilderness. He led sheep, then men, then the nation. God would not ask us to do something if he had not provided a way. God has given you the tools, now it is just up to you to say YES!
Personal Note: Let this year be the year of NO EXCUSES! If you have felt God tugging at your heart about something, now is the time to say YES. Let go of the way you see yourself and think about the way God must see you for him to ask this of you. He loves you and He has a plan Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."
