Pain effects each and every one of us on the planet. How each of us approaches the pain we face differs greatly. Some of choose just to suffer through the pain. Some choose to medicate in order to not feel the pain anymore. Others, figure out the source of the pain and treat that.
This is true not only for physical pain, but also for our emotional pain that we face. The emotional pain we suffer throughout life causes some of us to suffer through and pretend like we are just fine. Unfortunately, by not addressing the real issues, the pain does not really subside and will eventually get worse. Some will medicate in order not to feel the emotional pain anymore (alcohol, drugs, sex, are just a few examples). Once again the person doesn't address the issues and the pain does not go away in fact, it usually intensifies. The only people who seem to be able to deal with the emotional pain of life are those who find out the source of the pain and begin to deal with it.
Pain is our way of knowing there is a problem in our bodies or our lives. If a person never experienced pain they would never know when they were injured and they would not seek medical attention. Likewise, with emotional pain we can seek help in dealing with it, God is more than willing to help us through all of our pain. We just need to be willing to seek His help.
