COVID Changed Everything!

I don't know about you, but COVID changed everything for me this year. The plans I had set out for myself this year, the goals I had set for myself, went up in smoke when COVID happened. It impacted every aspect of my life. There have been no church gatherings which is a huge change in my life. Yes, they were replaced with Zoom meetings, but they are not at all the same. The longer Zoom has been our only form of contact the more I have not liked using it.
This year has been difficult to say the least, and I am sure there are many who would agree. It has impacted businesses, churches, the healthcare system and life as we know it. Will we ever see a day again where masks will no longer be required almost everywhere we go? Will there ever be a day when we can see a doctor in person again not just on a screen? I am not sure if life will ever return to normal.
Sounds bleak right? Well it would be if I left it there, however God wants us not to look at our circumstances but look to him. He is greater than everything going on around us. Yes, even greater than COVID!
I have noticed this year that I have become more selfish as this year progressed. I found myself disengaged from the world around me and found myself solely focused on the things that impacted my life directly. It took an argument with my husband to help me realize how much I had changed over the past 9 months. I sat there journalling my thoughts and feelings for the first time in months. It all came out, all of my selfishness, all of my pride, all of my anger, and all of my fear and disappointment. It was good to see the reality of what was going on behind the scenes. It woke me up! I decided to start journalling daily again, along with making sure quality time with God is a major focus of my day. Why is this so important?
Focusing my mind on God fills me with peace, love and completely clears my mind. The fog I have been walking around in for the last 9 months has been lifted and now I see more clearly. Today when I was having my time with God, he told me to go back to writing. I had no idea that the last time I wrote anything was in April as the whole COVID crisis started.
I may not know the future but with my eyes focused on God I am assured that whatever purpose He has for my life will be fulfilled, COVID or not!
Personal Note: I would like to encourage you that if you are in a fog right now, feel free to try reaching out to God. Even if you have never acknowledged God before, He is there waiting with open arms and an open heart. He is waiting for you to make the first step. He loves you and does not want you to remain in the fog you are in. He wants to set you free from all the things that hold you back from living your life to the fullest, like fear, anger, loneliness, disappointment, anxiety, depression, selfishness and even pride.
