When Life Gets Tough

3/15/2021

It is Monday and the last couple of weeks have been a tough time for us. I have been so overwhelmed with things that I didn't make time to write. I am sure many of you have faced tough times and when we become overwhelmed, some things need to give. Unfortunately, sometimes the things that give are the things that we love, or the things that bring us life. This is at least true for me.

Writing brings me life, it brings me joy! For all of you out there who are going through a tough time, know that you do not need to face it alone. God is always there for you, even if you have never spoken to him before, he is there just waiting for us to let him help us. If you need others to walk with you, you can always contact me. Do not face your tough times alone. I lean on my sister in these times and she is great! She helps me see things from a different perspective and she gives me hope for an end to the trial.

My point is this, when life gets tough, try to make time for the things you love and the things that bring you life. These things could actually be the tools that will help you get through the tough times you are facing.

Jesus prays for us

Have you ever asked someone else to pray for you? Last week I asked you all to pray for Walter's family. We thank you for all of your prayers. God is so good! Walter got to speak to his family by facetime today which was great!

As I was doing my devotions today I was struck by the fact that Jesus intercedes for us. Do we even think to ask him to pray for us though? I am challenged because his is the first person I should go to when needing someone to intercede for me. I think when it comes to prayer I always think of it as us speaking to God, all three persons (Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit). This may be why I do not think to ask for Jesus to intercede on my behalf, but Jesus does this as our High Priest who lives forever.

The next time you are facing a crisis and you do not know who to ask to pray for you, ask the perfect High Priest Jesus. He would love to intercede to the Father on your behalf. He is the best intercessor we could ask for.

Prayer Request

For those of you who know me and Walter really well, I am asking for prayer for Walter and his family. We heard from his aunt today and his mom has been given less than a week to live. Due to lockdowns, Walter has been unable to go and see her and this has been very hard on him. Please keep him and the family in your prayers throughout this week. You can also send encouraging messages by using the contact us form here, or by clicking the Facebook link on the LHF Ministries website.

Thank you on advance for all of your prayers! They mean so much more than you could ever know!

March... what happened to the last year?

3/1/2021

It is March 1st. It means that is has been almost a year since the first lockdown here. This last year has had its ups and downs. There are two questions looming in my heart and mind. The first is what happened to the last year? It almost feels like it has been an alternate reality, but in reality it is life as we know it.

Some of you may have had a great year, but for the most part it has been a difficult year for most people. I want to take this opportunity to encourage you that God is there for you. He will never leave you, no matter what happens. God holds us close to his heart and he celebrates with us in every victory, and he weeps with us over every sorrow. He is always present with us. He will never give up, even when we are tempted to. God's love is greater than any other love in this world, and he loves you! When looking back over this year, make sure you look for the moments God demonstrated his love for you in the midst of storms, tragedies and trials. He was there even when we do not recognize it.

The second question looming in my heart and mind is what will this next year look like? I do not know the future, but I do know that God never changes. This means that no matter what happens this next year, God will still be loving us, always present. He is the one thing we can depend on going into this next year. Even if everything else in life shifts and changes, God remains the same. My only hope is that I will be watching for him. Watching for his love seeping into every moment, his peace saturating every painful moment, and his strength raising me up from my weakness. Watching for those moments when he has made his presence known to me in so many various ways. Knowing that God is unchanging whatever this next year holds I know I will make it through with his help.
